I am a writer and educator based in Austin, Texas. With over twenty years of experience in teaching, I have led writing workshops for youth and adults and have developed a revision strategy (Layering: A Structured Approach to Revision), which has been presented at Grub Street’s Muse and Marketplace Conference and The Writers League of Texas Agents and Editors Conference. I hold an MFA in Fiction from Hunter College, where I studied with Booker Prize winner Peter Carey, and was a 2016 writer-to-writer mentor for the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP). I love helping writers develop, revise, and polish their projects.
It was not long ago that I went through my own process of polishing my manuscript, sending query letters to agents, and going through a number of edits before my debut novel The Pathless Sky (Europa Editions) came out at the end of 2015. My short stories, essays, and reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in Ecotone, LitHub, Catapult, New England Review, New Ohio Review, Colorado Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, Chicago Quarterly Review, Brooklyn Magazine, and many other publications.
